GPS Status
Construction Notice

Status Info
Current GPS status information is available from a number of sources and in a number of countries. I will attempt to list these sources but make no guarantees of completeness, correctness or continued availability. Use this information at your own risk!
NAVSTAR
The United States Coast Guard is the official source of navigation information to the civilian community. Includes system status for GPS, Loran-C and Omega to the civilian community. The new Navigation Center (NAVCEN) replaces the GPS Information Center (GPSIC). There are several ways to get to the NAVSEN.
WORLD WIDE WEB
The USCG Navigation center is now available on the web at:
http://www.navcen.uscg.mil/
TELNET
To get to the GPSIC through the internet, you have to telnet to FEDWORLD, then Telnet to the GPSIC. This link will get you to FEDWORLD. Once you get to FEDWORLD, type /GO GATEWAY. When it gets done doing it's business, type 54. That will put you at the BBS, same as the BBS number below. I believe that they are planning a direct web presence through the Department of Transportation later this year. I will verify this ASAP.
BBS
A 24 hour BBS is available at 703-313-5910.
24 Hour Voice
For 24 hour live information, call 703-313-5900. For a 24 hour recording, call 703-313-5907.
University of New Brunswick
Current NANUs are available by fingering gps@geomac.se.unb.ca at the University of New Brunswick (Richard Langley's hangout, I believe. Thanks a million for setting this up!) The data originates from the U.S. Naval Observatory's Automated Data Service.
U.S. Naval Observatory
The U.S. Naval Observatory makes up-to-date GPS status information available via it's Automated Data Service.
ANONYMOUS FTP
Quite a number of status documents including current NANUs are available via anonymous FTP.
TELNET
The Automated Data Service is available via telnet. To try the Automated Data Service, log in to the server and give the username ads. You will need a valid password, same as below.
EMAIL SERVICE
The ADS Email server will send by return mail any of the ADS data files. You can obtain a list of available files by sending Email to adsmail@tycho.usno.navy.mil with SUBJECT: index.
BBS
Modem service is provided to agencies and activities requiring ADS data via telephone. Access is password controlled; public access via modem is not supported. For access info contract Richard Schmidt, Time Service, US Naval Observatory, Washington, DC 20392 (202)653-0487, res@tuttle.usno.navy.mil.
PHONES:(202)653-0155, 653-0068, 653-1079 300-14.4Kb 8N1
DSN: 294-0155, 294-0068, 294-1079 (8 bits - No parity - 1 Stop bit)
U.S. ARMY EGRIS (Military Users)
The U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground GPS Range Instrumentation System (EGRIS) is a single source of GPS info for military users and contractors. For authorization, contact Jack Underwood at USAEPG at (602) 533-8087.
University of Bern
Nasa maintains the current status of GPS satellite signals as monitored at the University of Bern's Zimmerwald Observatory in the form of a file which is nominally updated every 30 minutes. The file contains the following information:
- satellite PRN number
- azimuth
- elevation angle
- antispoofing on (yes/no)
- user
- range accuracy (in meters)
- health
GLONASS
Vist their new web site with current GLONASS status information.
+7-095-333-81-33
+7-095-261-63-71
3S NAVIGATION
In the US, 3S navigation maintains GLONASS information on their BBS at 714-830-3794 and is available live at 714-830-3777.
The SATNAV group at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory keeps Glonass status at their web site.
